The internet loves a good celebrity feud rumor, and this week it was Selena Gomez catching heat from Swifties after she appeared to throw shade at Taylor Swift's NBA Finals outing. But Gomez is now speaking out, insisting it was all a big misunderstanding.

It all started when Swift showed up at Madison Square Garden for Game 4 of the NBA Finals alongside her pals Alana and Este Haim. The pop icon was courtside, celebrating the New York Knicks' dramatic comeback against the San Antonio Spurs. An MTV post captured the moment, and Gomez, a known Spurs fan, replied simply with “lol.” That single comment sent Swift's fanbase into overdrive, convinced Gomez was mocking her friend.

But Gomez says that wasn't the case at all. In a statement on social media, she explained: “Woke up and was sent so many texts. I would never insult my friends nor was it an insult. The comment was a reaction to the first slide on the page. Second I bet my friends on the game. The friends in the text chain I posted. I lost but was poking at my opponents, my friends. Believe it or not I do have other friends in my life. But quickly forget that most assume otherwise. also .. It’s a basketball game.”

Gomez's clarification didn't stop some fans from speculating, but the two stars are reportedly on solid ground. In fact, sources close to both say there's no feud here—just a friendly wager that got blown out of proportion.

This isn't the first time Swift's NBA Finals presence has sparked controversy. Earlier, Knicks announcer Mike Breen faced backlash after a jab about Swift being a 'fake fan' drew the ire of her dedicated fanbase. Broadcaster Monica McNutt later apologized for her own comments questioning Swift's basketball knowledge. Meanwhile, Swifties have credited her courtside magic with fueling the Knicks' epic Game 4 rally.

Gomez's Spurs allegiance is no secret—she's been a vocal fan for years. And with the Spurs falling short in that game, her “lol” may have just been a lighthearted jab at her own team's misfortune, not at Swift. As she noted, it was all about a bet with friends, not a dig at Taylor.

Looking ahead, the two remain close. Reports from Us Weekly suggest Gomez is expected to attend Swift's upcoming wedding, which TMZ says could be held at Madison Square Garden in early July with over 1,000 guests. Swift has been personally calling invitees to keep details under wraps, according to sources.

So, for now, the only drama here is on the court—and maybe in the comments section of a few posts. But Selena and Taylor? They're just fine.
