Just under a year after going public with their relationship, the two called it quits, and Megan didn't mince words about the reasons. She previously accused Thompson of mood swings and infidelity, making it clear that trust and respect are deal-breakers for her.
In the new interview, Megan admitted that being with the four-time NBA champion left her feeling constantly unsettled. "I was on edge all the time," she confessed. "I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn't belong, trying to fit myself into someone else's life. I was losing myself a little bit."
The Houston native, who has three Grammy awards to her name, explained that she's now in a phase of rediscovery. "I am now in the space of finding me again," she said, emphasizing that she refuses to accept disrespect from a partner.
Her initial statement to TMZ after the breakup was equally firm: "Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
Meanwhile, Thompson is starting a fresh chapter of his own. After agreeing to a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks, the veteran wing is set to join the Miami Heat, a move that has generated plenty of buzz around the league. Though his All-Star days are behind him, he's still a reliable floor spacer, having averaged 11.7 points per game last season while knocking down 38.3% of his three-point attempts.
Thompson, who has long been known for his clutch shooting and championship pedigree, is excited about the opportunity to contend again. "I've tasted winning before and there's really nothing like it," he said. "The opportunity to win again at a very high level was so attractive to me."
