Kristin Cavallari is pulling back the curtain on her split from former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, and the picture she paints is anything but pretty. The reality star and businesswoman recently opened up about the financial fallout of their divorce, claiming she walked away with nothing from the marriage while Cutler took a sizable chunk of her own company.
During an appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, Cavallari didn't hold back. She said she was forced to hand over half the value of her lifestyle brand Uncommon James in cash, plus properties and other assets, all while receiving zero spousal support or child support from Cutler. “I don’t get any money from my ex-husband,” she stated bluntly.
The divorce, finalized in 2022 after a seven-year marriage and three kids, has clearly left deep scars. Cavallari admitted she was “really upset” at the time, but now she’s trying to spin the experience into motivation. “I’ve needed these things in my life to keep going,” she said. “Those little moments push me and I come out the other side stronger.”
But Cutler isn't staying silent. The former Chicago Bears signal-caller previously addressed the allegations on the Take it Outside podcast, calling them “completely false.” He argued that no judge in Tennessee, where the divorce was finalized, would allow a spouse to walk away with nothing after years of marriage and an NFL career. “You can go and see how much I made in the NFL. It’s online,” Cutler said. “There’s not a judge in the state of Tennessee that would have signed that.”
He also pointed out that both sides had lawyers, making it highly unlikely that Cavallari would have agreed to a deal that gave her nothing. “Is her lawyer really going to be like, ‘Fine, you get zero dollars’? Absolutely not,” Cutler added.
The drama doesn't stop at money. Cavallari has also claimed that the custody arrangement is no longer 50-50, stating she now has primary custody of their three children, ages 9 to 13. “I have chosen to be the best mom that I could be and be a good business owner,” she said. “I am the best mom and my kids will tell you that also.”
This messy public feud is a reminder that even high-profile divorces can get ugly, especially when millions of dollars and kids are involved. For Cavallari, the fight is personal—and she's using it as fuel. For Cutler, it's about setting the record straight.
