If you thought the drama surrounding Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's wedding was winding down, think again. The latest controversy comes from an unexpected source: Jena Sims, the wife of professional golfer Brooks Koepka.
Sims, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model who married Koepka in 2022 and welcomed their first child last year, recently sat down with People magazine to discuss her encounter with Kelce at this year's WM Phoenix Open. And what she said has Swift's fanbase seeing red.
“I was so excited to meet Travis Kelce, I mean, he’s my hall pass,” Sims told People.
For the uninitiated, a "hall pass" is a term used to describe a celebrity you're allowed to be with if given a free pass in a relationship. But Swifties aren't laughing. They see it as a disrespectful jab at Swift, especially with the couple's wedding reportedly set for July.
Social media erupted with criticism. “She is married and have kids btw,” one fan wrote, while another added, “Wild thing to say about someone who’s about to get married but okay.” A third chimed in, “If she were dating an average Joe, it’d be kinda weird. She’s literally married to a pro athlete. Pretty messed up to publicly admit.”
Sims' comment comes at a delicate time. According to multiple reports, Kelce and Swift are expected to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden on July 3, with an estimated 1,100 to 1,200 guests in attendance. The guest list is already stacked with A-listers, and 12 stars have been confirmed so far. But it's safe to say Sims probably won't be among them.
The backlash also echoes recent tensions in the sports world over similar comments. Just last month, tennis star Taylor Townsend faced criticism for a separate incident, but this one hits closer to home for Swift's loyal fanbase.
This isn't the first time a WAG has stirred the pot. Morgan Riddle, Taylor Fritz's ex, also made headlines after her split, but Sims' comment feels more pointed given the wedding timing.
Whether Sims' remark was a harmless joke or a genuine misstep, one thing is clear: Swifties aren't letting it slide. And with the wedding just weeks away, all eyes are on Kelce and Swift to see if they address the drama—or if they simply ignore it and focus on their big day.
