Life for the James family has never been simple, but Savannah James is admitting that the latest chapter—with LeBron James now suiting up for the Philadelphia 76ers—has brought a whole new level of logistical gymnastics. On the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast, Savannah didn't hold back about the mental acrobatics required to keep the family connected across multiple time zones.
“The crazy in my life is the fact that I have to figure out how to be three places at once,” she said. “That is crazy. I try not to think about it because it’s gonna stress me out, and I know it has to happen, but that is crazy.”
LeBron's blockbuster move from the Lakers to the 76ers sent shockwaves through the NBA, and the ripple effects hit home immediately. While LeBron has settled into a New York residence as his home base for the season, Savannah has remained in Los Angeles with their 12-year-old daughter, Zhuri. Meanwhile, their sons are carving their own paths: Bronny is still with the Lakers, and Bryce is playing college ball for the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson.
“New York will be the hub. So it will be LA, New York, and Philly. And my son is in school in Tucson, Arizona,” Savannah explained. “So along with his season, he’s everywhere else. Trying to plan my life out like that is a little crazy for me right now.”
Despite the chaos, Savannah has already made the trek east to catch LeBron's 76ers home debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 22, bringing Zhuri along for the ride. It's a glimpse of the new rhythm the family is trying to find—one that Savannah admits is an adjustment but not a crisis.
“LeBron going to play in Philly, it’s going to be an adjustment, but it is going to work out. Zhuri going into middle school is an adjustment, but it’s going to work out. And then the boys are kind of living their own lives,” she said.
What's striking is Savannah's calm demeanor in the face of such upheaval. Months after turning 40, she says she feels a shift within herself. “I think the way that it feels for me is that I feel different in myself, in the work that I’ve done and the way that I wanted to feel going into this milestone age,” she reflected, suggesting that maturity and perspective have softened the stress of constant motion.
It's a sentiment that resonates with many parents juggling busy schedules, but for Savannah, the stakes are uniquely high. The family's ability to stay connected while scattered across the country will be tested all season. Yet if her podcast appearance is any indication, she's approaching it with a mix of realism and grace—acknowledging the difficulty without letting it define her.
As the 76ers chase a title with LeBron leading the charge, the James family's off-court coordination is just as fascinating as the on-court chemistry. For Savannah, it's about finding balance in a life that rarely offers it. And with the Knicks fans' fiery reception and the anthem ritual controversies swirling around LeBron, the spotlight on this family isn't dimming anytime soon.
