New York Jets running back Breece Hall has been a rare bright spot for the franchise when healthy, but his injury struggles this season have drawn a disturbing response from some fans. Speaking to reporters Thursday after a full practice, Hall revealed that he has received threats directed at him and his family on social media over his limited availability.

“Since I haven’t been playing and I’ve been questionable or limited, and people not finding out that I’m not playing until gameday, people are like, threatening me or my family on social media. So it’s not something that’s good for your mental health,” Hall said. He added that he has deactivated his X account to escape the abuse.

The threats stem from fan frustration over Hall’s missed games—he has sat out five this year—and accusations that he is faking injuries. “Apparently I’m ‘faking my injury’ or I just have ‘a bruised hip,’ but it’s been a lot. It is what it is,” he said, acknowledging a “love-hate relationship” with Jets fans who want him on the field and performing at a high level.

This isn’t the first time Hall has voiced discontent with the franchise. Last season, he was nearly traded at the deadline, but the two sides patched things up during the offseason when Hall signed a three-year, $45.75 million extension, making him one of the league’s highest-paid running backs. However, his production has dipped this year—through three games, he has just 163 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Hall’s career numbers remain solid: 5,305 yards from scrimmage and 28 touchdowns in 59 games with the Jets, including a career-best 1,065 rushing yards last season. But if he can’t get back on track soon, he’s on pace for his least productive season since his injury-shortened rookie year.

The situation raises questions about Hall's future with the Jets, especially as trade rumors swirl. Some fans are already speculating about a potential move, and the team’s social media activity has fueled Garrett Wilson trade speculation as well. While Hall’s extension suggests the organization values him, the mounting frustration on both sides could lead to a split.

For now, Hall is focused on getting healthy and contributing, but the emotional toll of the threats is undeniable. “It is what it is,” he repeated, a resigned acknowledgment of the harsh reality of playing in a passionate market like New York.
