The Kansas City Chiefs opened the 2026 season with five straight wins, looking every bit like a Super Bowl juggernaut. But after back-to-back losses, the shine is wearing off, and NFL fans are starting to wonder: are these Chiefs actually good, or are they just frauds?

At 5-2, the record looks solid on paper. But dig a little deeper, and the schedule tells a different story. As Bet MGM pointed out on X, the Chiefs' wins have come against the 2-6 Colts, the 1-6 Dolphins, a three-point squeaker over the Raiders, and the winless Chargers. Their only win against a team with a winning record? A split with the Broncos.

NFL Fans Demand NFC East Be Banned From Primetime Slots
NFL fans are calling for a ban on NFC East primetime games after another lackluster showing. The division's popularity isn't enough to justify the spotlight anymore.

That's a far cry from the dominant force we've come to expect from Kansas City. And fans are taking notice.

“The 2026 Chiefs: -Beat the 2-6 Colts -Beat the 1-6 Dolphins -Beat the Raiders by 3 points -Beat the winless Chargers -Split vs. the Broncos,” Bet MGM shared on X. “1 win vs. teams with a winning record.”

One fan sarcastically joked, “That means they’re definitely going to the Super Bowl then, right? At least that’s what I was told last year about why the Patriots made it.” Another added, “Right right right – no way they’ll be hosting the AFCCG then I hate KC but this has been done several times in the past decade.”

The criticism has been blunt. “Chiefs are frauds, and have had a super easy schedule,” one fan claimed. Another went further, saying, “Roger Goodell tried to hide this fraud team with the first 6 games. Knew this team was trash from the beginning.”

Even Travis Kelce, the team's veteran leader, acknowledges there are issues. “We got a lot of fight. You gotta take the positives out of this. You can’t dwell on it,” he said, via The Athletic. “It’s a pretty good football team. Obviously, in our hearts, we feel like we should have came out with a victory, but at the same time, that’s not the reality of things. The reality of things is we got to fix a lot.”

Kelce didn't shy away from personal accountability. “And the little things, mistakes, and it starts with the person that you’re looking at in the mirror. I’m one of them. I’ve been frustrated with myself on how long I’ve been in the league and the procedural stuff that’s happened for the past three games, really. Really since the bye and it’s frustrating. You just can’t (expletive) do it. I gotta be better for my teammates and that sets the tone for a lot of people in this room. Everybody’s just gotta up the ante from that.”

The Chiefs have a lot of football left to play, but the doubters are growing louder. Whether they can silence them remains to be seen. For now, the 2026 Chiefs are a team under a microscope, and the verdict is far from favorable.
