Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp won't be facing a judge anytime soon. The former NFL star was investigated for an alleged incident at a senior living facility in Florida, but prosecutors have opted not to file charges.
According to TMZ, which obtained a police report from the Apopka Police Department, the incident occurred in May at Solaris Healthcare. A female employee claimed Sapp “got physical with her” during a dispute over insurance records for a family member.
The employee told officers that Sapp arrived at the facility asking for documents and answers regarding denied insurance claims. She said he “became verbally hostile” and, after she called her male boss and put him on speakerphone, Sapp grew even more agitated. The woman alleged Sapp grabbed her phone and made contact with her wrist, prompting her to tell him not to touch her and to ask other staff members to call police. Sapp reportedly left before authorities arrived.
A review of security footage showed no clear angle of the alleged physical contact, according to the report. Police attempted to speak with Sapp but he never returned their calls. While officers believed they had probable cause to charge Sapp with battery, prosecutors decided not to pursue the case.

After retiring in 2007, Sapp transitioned to a media role and later served as an assistant coach under Deion Sanders at Colorado, working as a senior quality control analyst in 2024 and pass rush coordinator in 2025 before departing.
The decision not to charge Sapp brings a measure of closure to this episode, though questions about what exactly happened remain. For now, the Hall of Famer can focus on his next chapter without the shadow of a criminal case.
