Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has kept his personal life under wraps for years, but with the 2026 season on the horizon, he's finally opening up about what comes next. And it's a lot bigger than football.
In a candid appearance on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio on Friday, Rodgers revealed that he and his wife, Brittani, are expecting their first child. The future Hall of Famer, who has been notoriously private about his marriage, shared that he plans to step away from the game after this season to be a full-time dad.
“I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” Rodgers said. “And I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
The announcement comes as a surprise to many, as Rodgers has kept his relationship with Brittani largely out of the spotlight. The couple married in a private ceremony, and Rodgers has only shared the spelling of her name publicly — no photos, no details. But now, with fatherhood on the horizon, he's ready to let fans in just a little more.
Rodgers also touched on his recent reconciliation with his estranged family, a journey that has clearly brought him joy. He spoke warmly about his role as an uncle to his brothers' children and how that experience has fueled his excitement about starting his own family.
“I have a few godkids that I’m involved with, but being Uncle Aaron to my brothers’ kids has been a lot of fun,” Rodgers said. “And the more I’m around them, the more I get excited and so does the wife about having some of our own.”
While the 42-year-old signal-caller is embracing the next chapter, he's not shying away from the challenges that come with it. “I can’t wait for that next chapter of life and all that that entails, and sleepless nights and crying babies and changing diapers and all those things,” he said. “I’m looking forward to all of it.”
