The NFL is reportedly turning its attention to one of the Philadelphia Eagles' most recognizable sideline figures. Dom DiSandro, the team's senior advisor to the general manager, director of game day coaching operations, and chief security officer—affectionately known as "Big Dom"—is said to be under league investigation, according to longtime Eagles insider Derrick Gunn.
Gunn, who has covered the team for years, reported that the league is looking into DiSandro based on remarks made by former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho during an episode of his Speakeasy podcast in early August. Acho, who played for three teams during his career, never named names, but speculation has centered on DiSandro as the figure in question.
"The NFL is still investigating Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro based on comments made by Emmanuel Acho on his Speakeasy Podcast back in early August… Acho who played for 3 NFL teams never mentioned a name. But it has been widely speculated he was referring to Big Dom," Gunn posted on social media just before the 2026 regular season kicked off on Wednesday, September 9.
The league has not issued any public statement regarding an investigation into DiSandro, and the Eagles have not commented on the matter either. The story adds another layer of intrigue to a team already navigating a high-stakes season, one that has seen its share of drama—from a heated joint practice brawl with the Patriots to questions about the backup quarterback role before the opener.
What Did Acho Say?
On the podcast, Acho recounted an incident from his playing days when he was involved in a minor car accident on the way to practice. He claimed he called a security staffer—whom he did not identify—and was told to wait for a different officer to arrive.
"When the cop shows up, send the cop away. I'm going to send you another cop. And that other cop is going to say it wasn't your fault. It was their fault," Acho said, according to reports.
Acho, 35, played for the Cleveland Browns, the Eagles, and the New York Giants during his career, so he said listeners couldn't pinpoint which team was involved. Still, the speculation quickly zeroed in on Philadelphia, given DiSandro's prominent role and his reputation as a fierce protector of the team.
DiSandro is no stranger to headlines. He was famously ejected from a game in 2023 during a sideline altercation, and he's become a beloved figure among Eagles fans for his no-nonsense demeanor. The investigation, if confirmed, could cast a shadow over his role, though no official findings have been released.
This isn't the only off-field issue the Eagles have faced recently. Former Pro Bowler Miles Sanders was arrested on DUI charges in Pittsburgh, and the team has also dealt with criticism over a training camp clip that some felt threw Jalen Hurts under the bus.
As the NFL's investigation continues, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely. For now, the league's silence leaves plenty of room for speculation, but one thing is certain: Big Dom's story is far from over.
