The NASCAR world is still reeling from the sudden loss of Kyle Busch, but amid the grief, a powerful promise has emerged. Veteran driver Denny Hamlin has made a heartfelt commitment to Samantha Busch and her young son, Brexton, vowing to be there for them no matter what.

On his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin opened up about his bond with the Busch family and the promise he intends to keep. “We just are going to think about the family,” Hamlin said. “Obviously Samantha or Brexton, anything that they need from us or me personally then we’re going to go above and beyond.”

Harvick Draws Haunting Parallel Between Busch and Earnhardt Tragedies
Kevin Harvick says Kyle Busch's sudden death from pneumonia and sepsis feels eerily similar to the day NASCAR lost Dale Earnhardt Sr., and that Busch would have wanted the show to go on.

Hamlin’s pledge isn’t just a reaction to tragedy—it’s rooted in deep gratitude. He recalled how Samantha was one of the first people to reach out to his own mother after a devastating house fire killed his father in December. “Samantha was one of the first people that helped my mom after the fire. She was able to contribute and reached out and helped us. That family is very, very caring. Our thoughts are with her.”

The emotional weight of the moment was felt across the track during the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. Tributes to the late driver were everywhere, from Bubba Wallace’s silent tribute to the moving pre-race ceremony honoring Busch’s family. Hamlin praised Samantha and Brexton for their courage in attending. “The family just showed tremendous courage coming to the racetrack and subjecting yourselves to being out there,” he said.

One of the most touching moments came when Kyle Larson’s son, Owen, walked over to give Brexton a hug—a small gesture that captured the NASCAR community’s solidarity. “Great moment caught… just, ugh, it’s just heart-wrenching for sure,” Hamlin added. He admitted he couldn’t watch the ceremony live, as he was already on the grid preparing for the race, but saw the highlights later on social media.

Despite the heavy emotions, Hamlin delivered a strong performance, finishing third in the Coca-Cola 600. Daniel Suarez took the win, followed by Christopher Bell, with Tyler Reddick and Kyle Larson rounding out the top five. The race itself was a testament to the resilience of the sport’s drivers, many of whom raced with heavy hearts.

Hamlin’s promise is a reminder that in the tight-knit world of NASCAR, family extends beyond blood. As the Busch family navigates this unimaginable loss, they have a loyal friend in Denny Hamlin—one who intends to honor a debt of kindness with a lifetime of support.
