New York Giants fans have had enough. After a promising rookie season that saw Jaxson Dart throw for over 2,200 yards and account for 24 total touchdowns, the quarterback's recent appearance at a political rally has driven a wedge between him and the fan base.
Dart took the stage Friday in Suffern, New York, to introduce President Donald Trump, calling it an honor and a privilege. But for many Giants supporters, the move was a step too far. Social media erupted with disappointment, and some fans are now publicly renouncing their support for the young signal-caller.
“Why man…. Just why… so disappointed,” one fan commented on Dart's Instagram account. Another wrote, “Literally cancelled my jersey I ordered yesterday cuz of that. Disappointed bro.” A lifelong fan of 60 years said, “This is a tough one and right now I can’t root for Dart, never.”
The backlash isn't limited to the stands. Teammate Abdul Carter, a fellow 2025 draftee, didn't hold back his feelings. “Thought this s— was AI, what we doing man,” Carter posted on X, a comment that has Giants fans worried about chemistry issues in the locker room. Carter's post has many wondering whether head coach John Harbaugh will need to step in to smooth things over.
Offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemenor tried to calm the waters, but the damage may already be done. One fan summed up the sentiment: “You haven’t even established yourself yet as a quarterback in one of the most liberal cities in America. You’re absolutely entitled to your own political beliefs….but introducing a president with a 30% approval rating (and falling) in New York is a massive oversight.”
The situation has also drawn attention from national figures. A Trump advisor publicly criticized Carter for his attack on Dart, adding another layer to the drama. Meanwhile, Trump himself made a bizarre comment about Dart that only fueled the outrage.
For a player who was once celebrated for his fearlessness on the field, Dart now faces a new kind of challenge: winning back the trust of a fan base that feels betrayed. Whether he can do that remains to be seen, but for now, many Giants fans are saying they're done.
