Even without stepping foot on the court this season, Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington knows how to command attention. The 2024 Most Improved Player and All-Defensive selection sent social media into a frenzy this week by sharing a series of vacation photos in a striking blue swimsuit, captioned simply: “missed me?”
The response was immediate and electric. Fans flooded the comments with messages like “Yes girl you know we miss you” and “We are soooooo back.” One admirer simply wrote, “My goodness.” It’s clear that Carrington’s star power extends well beyond the hardwood.
Carrington, originally drafted 20th overall in 2021, spent several seasons with the Connecticut Sun before being traded to the Dallas Wings in 2025. She signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Sky this past April, but a foot injury sustained last year has kept her out of action for the entire 2026 campaign.
The Sky have felt her absence. Sitting at 6-13 and mired in 13th place in the WNBA standings, Chicago has struggled to find consistency. Things took an even worse turn in May when forward Rickea Jackson tore her ACL, ending her season after averaging 18.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
“We’re devastated that Rickea suffered this injury, but we are confident she will make a full recovery,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement. “Rickea was playing at an All-Star and All-Defensive level early in the season. We are certain she was primed for a career year. Our world-class medical staff will work hard with Rickea, who is one of the toughest players in the league, to get her back on the court.”
Despite the setbacks, there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Carrington is expected to return to the lineup in July, and her tease on Tuesday suggests she’s ready to make an impact. The Sky could use her defensive tenacity and scoring ability to try to climb back into playoff contention.
Carrington’s swimsuit snap also drew comparisons to other athletes and celebrities who have turned heads in similar fashion, such as Neymar's girlfriend Bruna Biancardi and model Madeline Hope. But for Sky fans, the real excitement lies in what Carrington can do on the court.
With her return looming, Chicago may finally get the spark it needs. If her swimsuit photo is any indication, Carrington is ready to turn up the heat—both on and off the court.
