Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen found himself in hot water early Sunday morning after being arrested on DUI charges in downtown Indianapolis. The veteran pass-catcher, who just joined the Colts this offseason, was booked at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center around 1 a.m., according to FOX 59.
Allen, 34, faces preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and OVWI endangering a person, both misdemeanors. Police say they approached his vehicle after it was parked in a no-parking zone, and the former Pro Bowler allegedly showed signs of intoxication, leading to further investigation and his arrest.
The Colts released a brief statement Sunday morning: "We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time."
This is a tough start for a 14-year veteran who signed a one-year deal worth up to $8.32 million with Indianapolis earlier this month. Allen played briefly in Saturday's preseason finale against the Detroit Lions, hauling in one catch for 24 yards. He's expected to be a key piece of the Colts' receiving corps alongside Josh Downs and Alec Pierce.
Allen's career has been decorated, with six Pro Bowl selections during his 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. After a contract dispute led to a trade to the Bears in 2024, he returned to the Chargers the following season, recording 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games.
This incident adds to a growing list of NFL players facing legal trouble this offseason. Just last month, former Eagles Pro Bowler Miles Sanders was arrested on DUI charges in Pittsburgh.
