The Indianapolis Colts are listening to offers for quarterback Daniel Jones, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, several teams have already picked up the phone. With the trade deadline set for Tuesday, Jones could be wearing a different uniform by midweek.
Jones, who signed a two-year, $88 million deal with the Colts last offseason, has struggled mightily in 2025. He's completing a career-low 60.4% of his passes for 1,542 yards, with just five touchdowns against nine interceptions. His struggles have been a major reason the Colts sit at 2-6, and their playoff hopes are fading fast.
Schefter reported Saturday morning that the Colts have "engaged in trade discussions" regarding Jones, and that multiple teams have expressed interest. While no deal is imminent, the possibility of a blockbuster move is very real.
One team that makes sense is the Minnesota Vikings. They have a Super Bowl-caliber defense but a passing game that has sputtered. Head coach Kevin O'Connell knows Jones well from their time together late in the 2024 season, and Jones has spoken highly of O'Connell's preparation and attention to detail.
"I always thought I worked really hard, I tried to work really hard, and it was important for me to prepare; watching film, study. I think I did that," Jones said, via Vikings on SI. "But going to Minnesota, I saw how Sam [Darnold] prepared. I saw how Kevin [O'Connell] prepared those guys, Josh McCown, Grant Udinski, that crew, and how detailed they were, day-in-and-day-out on every little bit of the plan. How they're going to study it. What they're looking for, walking through it, quizzing each other in the quarterback room. That made a big impression on me."
Jones also has a $10.51 million injury guarantee for 2027 that becomes fully guaranteed on March 15 if he stays on the Colts' roster. If Indianapolis is eliminated from playoff contention, they might be hesitant to expose him to injury, making a benching or a trade more likely.
The Vikings aren't the only potential suitor. The Baltimore Ravens have also been mentioned as a possible landing spot, especially with their playoff hopes fading and a need for quarterback depth. Schefter even floated the idea of the Ravens making a run at Jones.
But the Vikings seem like the most natural fit. They've been urged to make a move, and with the trade deadline approaching, they could be the team to pull the trigger. The Vikings' interest in Jones has been well-documented, and O'Connell's familiarity with him could be the deciding factor.
If a trade happens, it would be a major shakeup for both franchises. The Colts would likely turn to their backup, while the Vikings would add a veteran presence to their quarterback room. With the deadline just days away, the next 48 hours could be chaotic.
Will the Colts pull the trigger? Will the Vikings get their man? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: Daniel Jones' future in Indianapolis is anything but secure.
