According to NFL analyst Jason La Canfora, Haslam is “huge booster” of the University of Tennessee and has long admired the Manning family, particularly Peyton Manning. An NFL personnel executive told La Canfora that Haslam's ultimate goal is to have Arch Manning leading the Browns when their new stadium opens in the coming years.
“Haslam wants Arch Manning, that’s what this is all really about,” the executive said via Casino.org. “I’m not sure he’s coming out. I know Jimmy, and I know how Jimmy thinks. He’s a huge booster for Tennessee. He has always had a hard-on for Peyton. He wants Arch Manning playing in that new stadium.”
The Browns have been setting the stage for a young quarterback for months. The blockbuster trade of Myles Garrett, the decision to avoid signing a veteran signal-caller in free agency, and the open competition among Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel all point to one thing: a full rebuild aimed at 2027.
That strategy means the Browns are prepared to endure a rough 2026 season. After a dismal Week 1 performance against the Jaguars, the possibility of a winless campaign isn't far-fetched. But Haslam appears willing to embrace the struggle if it brings Arch Manning to Cleveland.
