Things got ugly in Indiana after Game 2 of the WNBA playoffs. Former Fever guard and current Amazon Prime analyst Sydney Colson had to be physically restrained following a confrontation with a fan, and the whole scene was captured on video.
According to reports, Colson and fellow analyst Theresa Plaisance left their courtside seats and inserted themselves into an altercation. As arena personnel tried to escort them away, a spectator in a red Fever shirt made a comment. Plaisance fired back, calling him a "little (expletive) boy," while Colson aggressively pushed toward the fan, shouting, "Who do you think you are? (Expletive), who the (expletive) do you think you are?" An Amazon staffer struggled to hold her back.
The video quickly went viral on X, sparking debates about professionalism and fan behavior. Colson, 37, spent part of her WNBA career in Indiana, playing for the Fever in 2025. She also had stints with the Aces in 2019 and from 2022-24.
It's unclear what exactly triggered the incident, but it may be connected to the earlier altercation involving Aces star A'ja Wilson and a fan. Wilson has been vocal about the incident, saying, "I don't know if you guys know me, but I don't get into the (expletive). I try to play my game, keep it pushing. But if I'm just walking, because I just got the foul, I'm chilling, and if I see a man come at me, taking steps toward me and pointing at me, I don't give a damn what you said. I don't give a damn how you said it. The tone, that is unacceptable."
This isn't the first time an announcer has found themselves in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Just recently, an MLB announcer sparked outrage over comments about a player, and fans have been calling for ESPN to shake up its college football announcer lineup. But this incident takes things to a whole new level.
Game 3 between the Fever and Aces is set for Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET, and if Game 2 was any indication, things are going to be heated. The Fever forced a Game 3 by taking down the Aces, and tensions are clearly running high.
The WNBA has yet to comment on the incident. Colson and Plaisance, who also co-host a podcast with Wilson, have not released a statement. As the series moves to a decisive Game 3, all eyes will be on the court—and the sidelines.
