The legal troubles for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk have escalated. According to court documents obtained by The California Post, an arrest warrant has been issued for the former All-Pro on a misdemeanor speeding charge. The charge stems from a video Aiyuk posted to his Instagram account back in December, showing him driving his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing at speeds exceeding 100 mph, including a clip of him hitting 104 mph as he passed the team's Levi's Stadium.
The video drew widespread backlash at the time, prompting Aiyuk to issue a public apology. “Sorry y'all. My car content won't come with speeding anymore! Was Praying with my son tonight and wouldn't want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies,” he wrote. However, the apology hasn't stopped the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office from pursuing legal action. The warrant marks the latest chapter in what has been a turbulent period for the 49ers' disgruntled star.
Aiyuk's relationship with the franchise has completely soured since he signed a four-year, $120 million extension two offseasons ago. Once a productive cornerstone of the offense—selected 25th overall in 2020 and recording two 1,000-yard seasons—his future in San Francisco now appears nonexistent. In January, general manager John Lynch bluntly stated, “it's safe to say [Aiyuk's] played his last snap as a 49er.” Reports have indicated that the team has struggled to find a trade partner, partly due to difficulties in contacting the receiver.
Adding to the drama, Aiyuk missed the entire 2025 season and remains on the team's reserve/left squad list. According to Spotrac, the guarantees in his contract for this year have been voided as part of a settlement with the franchise. The speeding warrant is just the latest in a string of poor decisions from the once-promising first-round pick.
