Hill, who spent his first six NFL seasons in Kansas City before a blockbuster trade to Miami, is currently working his way back from a devastating left knee injury. Fowler reports that a potential in-season signing with the Chiefs makes a lot of sense, with Hill possibly ready to play around October.
“Tyreek Hill remains fond of the Chiefs, and a potential in-season signing would make a lot of sense,” Fowler said, via Underdog NFL. “He should be closer to playing around October.”
The timing couldn't be better for Kansas City, who are looking to solidify their receiving corps after a somewhat unsettled start. Hill's elite speed and deep-threat ability would instantly upgrade an offense that already features Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. If he returns to full health, the Chiefs' Super Bowl aspirations for 2026 could get a massive boost.
Chiefs' O-Line Shuffle Shows Promise
While the Hill speculation dominates headlines, the Chiefs are also dealing with an injury concern on their offensive line. Questions remain about left tackle Josh Simmons and his back issue, but undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson stepped up admirably in Monday night's win over Denver.
“Chiefs coach Andy Reid trusted undrafted Kahlil Benson at left tackle on Monday night against Denver and it paid off,” Fowler wrote. “Benson allowed one pressure in 32 pass-blocking snaps in the win.”
Benson was initially evaluated as a guard with tackle flexibility, but with Simmons sidelined, he slid to left tackle for extended reps and has acquitted himself well. The Simmons injury remains a mystery, with the team treating it as week-to-week.
