South Metro Fire Rescue crews rushed to the scene and used specialized tools to reach him, but despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the site. The Broncos, who are building a state-of-the-art 205,000-square-foot facility as part of a $175 million project, expressed their grief in a statement released Tuesday. “The Denver Broncos are heartbroken to learn a subcontractor working on our new training center passed away Monday while on-site,” the team said. “We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the individual’s family, coworkers and friends during this difficult time.”
Turner Construction, the company overseeing the project, also issued a statement calling the loss heartbreaking for everyone involved. The nearly completed facility, which was scheduled to be finished within days, will now see construction halted to allow for a full investigation.
