Paul Pierce's legal troubles with his ex-girlfriend are heating up again. Princess Santiago, the mother of his child, has filed new court documents accusing the NBA Hall of Famer of hiding his true financial picture, according to TMZ Sports.
In the latest filings, Santiago claims Pierce has failed to produce information about his cannabis business, his income from Fox Sports 1, and his ownership stake in a commercial property. She also alleges that Pierce hasn't paid the $10,000 he was ordered to fork over so she could hire a forensic accountant to dig into his finances.
Santiago is now asking the court for an additional $40,000 to cover her legal fees, plus the $10,000 for the accountant. The motion paints a picture of a wealthy former athlete trying to dodge his obligations.
This isn't the first time the two have clashed over money. Back in August, a judge ordered Pierce to pay $8,508 per month in child support, along with $100,000 in legal fees. But Santiago says Pierce isn't playing ball when it comes to transparency.
Pierce, 49, enjoyed a stellar 19-season NBA career, suiting up for the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers. According to Spotrac, he earned nearly $200 million in salary alone during his playing days. He's also worked as a sports media personality since retiring after the 2016-17 season.
The former Celtics star was married to Julie Pierce from 2010 until their divorce in 2023. His personal life has been in the spotlight since, and this legal battle with Santiago is the latest chapter.
While this is a personal matter, it echoes the kind of financial scrutiny that other athletes have faced. Just this week, Tyreek Hill's courtroom drama showed how off-field issues can quickly become a distraction. And in the NFL, Mike Evans keeps proving his longevity despite the noise around him.
For now, Pierce's ex is demanding answers, and the courts will have to decide whether the legend is truly hiding assets or just slow to comply. Either way, it's another headache for a player who once ruled the hardwood.
