Michelle Beadle is staring down the barrel of a needle — and not the kind she'd choose. The former ESPN host turned FanDuel TV personality has a very personal stake in the 2026 NBA Finals, and right now, things aren't looking good for her skin.
The San Antonio Spurs are down 2-0 to the New York Knicks, and Beadle, a die-hard Spurs fan, has a bet that could leave her with permanent ink she'd rather avoid. If the Spurs can't claw back and win the series, she'll have to get a tattoo of Knicks star Jalen Brunson — right as she turns 50.
“It's going to be very unfortunate,” Beadle admitted on Monday, acknowledging the grim reality. The bet was made with a friend who is a Knicks fan: if the Spurs somehow rally, that friend has to get a Victor Wembanyama alien tattoo. But with New York holding a commanding 2-0 lead, Beadle's odds of escaping needle-free are shrinking fast.
NBA fans are already having a field day with the potential outcome. Social media lit up with suggestions for where Beadle should place the Brunson ink — and plenty of jokes about the size difference between a Brunson portrait and a full-body alien Wembanyama design.
“At least if San Antonio loses, the Brunson tattoo won't take up as much space as a Wemby tattoo,” one fan cracked. Another proposed a “tear drop with Brunson shooting a three,” a nod to the rapper Lil Wayne's infamous face tattoos.
This isn't Beadle's first brush with tattoo drama. She's been outspoken in the past, including a stark warning to female reporters about navigating the sports media landscape. But this time, the stakes are purely cosmetic — and permanent.
The 2026 NBA Finals have already delivered plenty of drama on the court, but the off-court bet adds a layer of personal agony for Beadle. Game 3 tips off Monday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC, and with a 2-0 deficit, the Spurs need a win to keep Beadle's skin safe.
Whether she ends up with a Brunson tribute or her friend gets an alien Wembanyama, one thing is certain: someone will have a permanent reminder of their team losing. And for Beadle, turning 50 might come with a very unwelcome birthday present.
