Olympic skiing icon Lindsey Vonn is turning heads once again, but this time it's not on the slopes. The 41-year-old alpine legend sent social media into overdrive this week with a sizzling vacation snap that shows her rocking a tiny red swimsuit while paddleboarding. The photo, posted to her Instagram, is a clear sign that her recovery from a devastating leg injury is moving in the right direction.

Vonn's journey back to health has been anything but easy. After tearing her ACL just before the 2026 Winter Olympics, she made the bold decision to compete anyway. Unfortunately, her Olympic dream turned into a nightmare when she crashed seconds into the downhill event, suffering a complex tibia fracture that required five surgeries in just one month. It was a brutal setback for one of the greatest skiers in history.

WNBA Fans Fume Over 2026 Team USA Snubs
USA Basketball unveiled its 2026 FIBA World Cup roster, but fans are crying foul over snubs of Sabrina Ionescu, Olivia Miles, and Kelsey Mitchell.

But Vonn is nothing if not resilient. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, she opened up about her progress. "Even since the Met, I feel amazing," she said. "I'm working out in the gym finally, which has been a huge step forward for me, but it's been a very slow process, you know, it's been 5 months since I've been able to actually go to the gym in a somewhat meaningful way, and walking is still actually really hard for me. My ankle is still broken, but you know, one thing at a time. My leg is healing, and that's important."

The paddleboard photo, which shows Vonn beaming in the sun, clearly struck a chord with her followers. Comments poured in, with one fan writing, "Looks so fun, happy and motivating," while another gushed, "Lovely as usual." A third chimed in, "Looking absolutely fabulous Lindsey, glad to see the great recovery you've made and that incredible smile." The post has racked up hundreds of thousands of likes, proving that Vonn's star power remains undiminished.

Of course, this isn't the first time Vonn has caused a stir in swimwear. She famously posed for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2010 and returned in 2016 for the magazine's "Body Paint" series. At the time, she admitted to some initial hesitation: "I wasn't quite sure if I was comfortable at first with body paint," she said. "But I figured it's pretty much the same as wearing a bathing suit anyway."

With her recovery progressing and her confidence clearly high, fans are already wondering if a return to SI Swimsuit might be in the cards for 2027. Given her track record of defying expectations, don't bet against it.

Vonn's latest post also adds to a growing trend of athletes and celebrities sharing bold swimsuit moments this summer. From Messi's wife Antonela's blue bikini photo to Halle Berry's playful selfie, the internet is buzzing with summer style. Vonn's entry into the conversation is a reminder that she's not just a sports legend—she's a pop culture force.

As she continues to heal, Vonn remains focused on the long road ahead. "One thing at a time," she said, and her fans are right there with her, cheering every step—and every photo—along the way.
