The Los Angeles Laker Girls, widely regarded as the most iconic dance team in the NBA, are getting a fresh look. The squad will debut new uniforms for the 2026-27 season, complete with a sponsor patch from Japanese retailer Daiso. This marks the first time the Laker Girls have had their own uniform patch, a move that signals a new era for the beloved entertainment team.
The partnership, announced Thursday by Lakers president of business operations Lon Rosen, is a multi-year deal that also makes Daiso the official sponsor of Laker Girl auditions. Rosen called the collaboration “innovative,” noting that it connects Daiso to the Laker Girls’ unique blend of global and local appeal.
“We are thrilled to welcome Daiso to the Los Angeles Lakers family with an innovative partnership that connects the retailer to the Laker Girls,” Rosen said in a statement. “Recognized as the premier sports entertainment team, the Laker Girls have both a global and local appeal that connects Daiso to one of the most influential and memorable elements of the Lakers gameday experience.”
The Laker Girls, launched during the Jerry Buss era, have long been a staple of Lakers home games at Crypto.com Arena. Their purple-and-gold uniforms are instantly recognizable, and the new design is expected to retain that iconic color scheme while adding the Daiso patch. The change comes as the Lakers organization continues to evolve its branding, following previous jersey sponsorships from Wish and Bibigo.
Daiso board member Taku Suzuki expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the company’s commitment to excellence. “Daiso aims to be a global lifestyle infrastructure that enriches lives around the world. We are incredibly honored to partner with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Laker Girls,” Suzuki said. “By connecting with the Lakers’ passionate international fanbase, we look forward to delivering ‘DANZEN’ — our commitment to being the ‘absolute best’ and exceeding expectations — to communities everywhere.”
The announcement comes as the Lakers prepare for a pivotal offseason. The team finished the 2025-26 season with a 53-29 record, but lebron james's looming free agency could shake up the roster. Meanwhile, the Laker Girls’ uniform update adds a fresh element to the gameday experience, one that fans will see when the team takes the court next season.
While the Lakers’ on-court future remains uncertain, the Laker Girls are locked in with a new look and a new sponsor. The Daiso patch will appear on their uniforms starting in 2026-27, and the partnership is expected to include co-branded merchandise and fan events. For a team that has been a symbol of Lakers entertainment for decades, this change is both a nod to tradition and a step toward the future.
