Two weeks into the 2026 season, the New York Jets are showing signs of life with a 1-1 record. But forget about the playoffs for a moment—the real story is brewing for the 2027 NFL Draft, where the Jets are quietly assembling a war chest that could reshape their franchise.

Thanks to a series of shrewd trades, the Jets currently own three first-round picks in 2027: their own, plus selections from the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts. And if early projections hold, all three could land in the top 15, with two potentially in the top 10.

How the Jets Built a Draft Empire

It started with the blockbuster trade that sent star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys in November 2025. In return, the Jets acquired one of Dallas's two 2027 first-rounders—and as part of the deal, they'll receive the higher of the two picks.

Then came the Micah Parsons trade, which netted the Jets an additional 2027 first-round pick from the Packers. Green Bay currently projects to pick eighth overall, which would give New York a premium selection.

And let's not forget the Sauce Gardner trade. When the Jets shipped their All-Pro cornerback to the Colts, they landed Indianapolis's 2027 first-round pick. The Colts are off to an 0-2 start, which would currently slot them at No. 3 overall. You can bet Jets fans will be scoreboard-watching in Indianapolis all season.

Flexibility Is the Name of the Game

With three first-round picks, the Jets have countless options. If they're in position to draft a quarterback like Arch Manning, Dante Moore, or Trinidad Chambliss, they can pull the trigger. If not, they can package picks to move up—or trade down to accumulate even more assets.

They could also use one pick on a quarterback and spend the other two on elite prospects like Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore or Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. The possibilities are endless.

Of course, the Jets already have a solid young core featuring Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Armand Membou, Kenyon Sadiq, and David Bailey. Adding three top-15 talents could turn them into a contender overnight.

But all the draft capital in the world means nothing without hitting on the picks. The pressure is squarely on general manager Darren Mougey to make the right calls. If he nails it, the Jets could be the team to beat in the late 2020s. If he whiffs, it'll be another chapter in the franchise's long history of frustration.

For now, Jets fans have plenty to dream about. And with the 2027 draft still over a year away, the speculation is only just beginning.
