Jerry Jones has never been shy about opening his checkbook, and after the Dallas Cowboys bounced back with a 37-20 beatdown of the Washington Commanders, the owner made it clear he's ready to do it again.

Following Sunday's win, Jones stopped reporters in the stadium tunnel and delivered a line that instantly went viral: "There is nothing more dangerous than an old man with money."

By Tuesday, during his weekly radio hit on 105.3 The Fan, Jones doubled down — and clarified exactly what he meant.

"I said it out of context, but I'm glad I said it," Jones explained. "We were just really feeling so good about our win that we were feeling our oats. The point is, we say this just right, don't tamper. My point is, it's good. We have the makings of a team here that I'm that optimistic about. I'd work to improve it in a minute financially."

For anyone wondering whether the 83-year-old was talking about something other than football, Jones shut that down fast. He insisted his "dangerous" comment was "very much" about the game, adding he would never reference anything else "under no circumstance, with that audience."

Jones knows a thing or two about making a midseason splash. Just last year, Dallas pulled off a blockbuster deal for star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets. Now, with a talented roster and Super Bowl aspirations, the Cowboys owner is keeping his eyes peeled for another opportunity to strike.

"The opportunity's always there if you wanna do like I do, and that's dream these what-ifs up," Jones said. "But I guess I've just felt so good about where we were after the game and what we can build on here that it encourages me to look for all ways to make this year something special."

The timing makes sense. Dallas heads to Brazil this Sunday to face the Baltimore Ravens, and Jones clearly believes this team has the pieces to contend — with a little financial help. The Cowboys' owner has long been one of the NFL's most aggressive dealmakers, and his willingness to spend big could give Dallas a serious edge as the season unfolds.

Of course, Jones' comments come amid plenty of outside noise surrounding the franchise. Critics like Emmanuel Acho have taken shots at Skip Bayless over his Cowboys obsession, while fans are still buzzing about a controversial no-catch call that helped Dallas escape Washington. Even the team's Week 3 trip to Brazil is under scrutiny, with the NFL facing pressure to pull the Cowboys-Ravens game over field concerns.

But none of that seems to be slowing Jones down. If anything, the Cowboys' fast start has him energized and ready to pounce. With a roster he believes in and a wallet he's not afraid to open, the man who once famously said he'd do "anything" to win a championship might just be gearing up for another bold move.

For Cowboys fans, that's exactly the kind of "dangerous" they can get behind.
