Hurricane Isaias is barreling toward the East Coast, and college football is feeling the impact. With the storm expected to make landfall Friday, several Week 6 matchups have been shuffled to avoid the worst of the weather.
Davidson and Presbyterian were the first to adjust, moving their game in Clinton, South Carolina up by a whopping five and a half hours. The two teams will now kick off at noon ET on ESPN+, a significant shift to dodge the incoming conditions.
Not far behind, East Tennessee State and The Citadel also pushed their start time to noon ET. Charleston, where The Citadel plays, is bracing for deteriorating weather, so the early start makes sense.
Rice and East Carolina joined the trend, shifting their kickoff to 1 p.m. ET. The storm's path has forced these programs to think fast and prioritize player safety and fan experience.
But the game everyone's watching—No. 2 Georgia vs. No. 6 Alabama in Tuscaloosa—remains on track. Despite worries about the hurricane's timing, The Weather Channel projects that Isaias will pass through the area before the 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. So far, no delays are expected.
ESPN's College GameDay isn't taking any chances, though. The popular pregame show will move indoors for Saturday's broadcast from Tuscaloosa, a nod to the unpredictable weather.
This isn't the first time a hurricane has rattled the college football schedule. Hurricane threats have previously sidelined major showdowns, and teams have learned to adapt quickly.
For fans in the affected areas, the changes mean adjusting tailgate plans and travel. But with the safety of players and spectators at stake, these moves are necessary.
As the storm continues to strengthen—with warnings of life-threatening gusts—more schedule tweaks could be on the horizon. For now, the three games have found a window, and the SEC's biggest clash is still a go.
