Mike Golic is about to have his plate full this football season, and his biggest fan is already celebrating. The longtime ESPN Radio personality is returning to the network with a new show alongside his son, Mike Golic Jr., and he's also picking up a new gig with his alma mater.
Notre Dame announced this week that Golic will join the SoFi Notre Dame Radio Network as the color analyst for Fighting Irish football broadcasts. He'll work alongside play-by-play announcer Tony Simeone and studio host Johnny Soper, adding a familiar voice to the team that has called Irish games for the past two seasons.
“Some places never leave your heart; Notre Dame is one of those places for me,” Golic said in a statement. “To now have the opportunity to serve on the radio team with Tony and Johnny is both humbling and exciting. I am looking forward to every game, and sharing the passion that makes Irish football unlike anything else.”
The university is equally thrilled to have him on board. Jim Fraleigh, Notre Dame's Deputy Athletics Director for Corporate Relations, praised Golic's unique blend of experience.
“We are thrilled to add a voice of Mike’s caliber to our radio broadcast team,” Fraleigh said. “As a former player, Mike brings a rare combination of broadcasting expertise and a genuine passion for Notre Dame and college football as a whole. He’ll pair perfectly with the chemistry Tony and Johnny have built over the past two seasons.”
Golic's return to ESPN has also been a bright spot. He and his son are hosting “The Golics,” a new show that promises to bring their trademark banter to the airwaves. But it's the Notre Dame role that has his wife, Christine, especially pumped.
“Let’s go!!” she wrote on X, sharing her enthusiasm for her husband's new chapter. She also celebrated his ESPN comeback with a post that read, “Who says you can’t go home!”
Christine's excitement is understandable. Golic, a former Fighting Irish star, is getting to combine his two passions: broadcasting and his beloved alma mater. It's a homecoming that resonates with fans who remember his playing days in South Bend.
For Golic, the 2026 season will be a whirlwind. Between his daily radio duties and his weekend trips to Notre Dame Stadium, he'll be a familiar presence in living rooms and on game days.
