Cameron Young is one hole away from the biggest win of his career at the Cadillac Championship, sitting at 19 under par with a six-stroke lead. But for the 28-year-old PGA Tour star, the real trophy is the family waiting for him at the 18th green.
Young has been married to his wife, Kelsey, for five years—they tied the knot in 2021—and they have three children: Henry, John, and Vivienne. The Youngs call Jupiter, Florida, home, but this season, the whole crew has been rolling with Cameron on tour.
“Wherever we are, we find mass to go to,” Young told Golfweek, explaining his family’s commitment to attending Catholic services every Sunday, no matter where the tournament takes them. “That week it happens to be right by the golf course. So it’s a little bit different pulling in in the tournament car, unloading my kids out, and having people kind of look at you the whole time.”
He added, “I get a lot of really, really nice comments, people saying, ‘hey, thanks for setting a great example for my children,’ or whatever it is. Honestly, it’s great to hear because I don’t feel like that’s the case all the time, and that’s one area where I’m really happy to be able to bring attention to that part of our life.”
Dad Duty Over Golf Glory
Young’s mother, Barbara, recently shed light on what drives her son. “Our family is very even-keeled,” she said. “He’s very serious about his golf, but being a dad is more important to him. People don’t see that side. He keeps his family life pretty quiet and private, but he’s a great dad.”
That balance is on full display this week. With a $3.6 million prize on the line, Young is still making time for his two young boys, who are just starting to show interest in the game. “I’ve got a 3- and a 4-year-old boy,” Young said. “It’s kind of the first time they’ve had any interest in it. So that was fun just to get to see them trying something new and enjoying what I spend a lot of my time doing.”
The PGA Tour has highlighted that family is “everything” for the Youngs, and it’s a theme that resonates beyond the fairways. In a world where athletes often compartmentalize, Young’s willingness to bring his wife and kids into the spotlight—and his faith along with them—sets him apart.
A Quiet Strength
Young’s even-keeled approach extends to his game. He’s been steady all week at the Cadillac Championship, but the finish is far from over. The final hole airs live on CBS, and with a six-shot cushion, he’s in prime position to close it out. Yet, win or lose, Young’s priorities remain clear.
For fans looking for inspiration beyond the scoreboard, Young’s story is a reminder that greatness on the course can coexist with devotion at home. As he putts for the win, his biggest supporters—Kelsey, Henry, John, and Vivienne—will be watching, just as they have all season.
In a sports world often dominated by contract dramas and off-course headlines—like Kelsey Plum's tax blunder or Cameron Brink's core power—Young’s quiet commitment to faith and family stands out. It’s a different kind of strength, and one that’s earning him respect far beyond the leaderboard.
As for the final hole? Young will take it one shot at a time, with his family—and his faith—by his side.
