Chelsea Green's recent run of misfortune shows no signs of letting up. The WWE star, who just captured the interim women's championship at SummerSlam, has now revealed she suffered a broken orbital bone during a tag team match on Friday night.

Green was teaming with Tiffany Stratton against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid when the injury occurred. In a candid video posted to her Instagram, Green detailed the incident and her current state.

Sue Bird's Rallying Cry: WNBA Stars Must Defend Their League
Sue Bird calls on WNBA players to defend their league against those leveraging its controversies for personal agendas, with Cheryl Miller echoing the need for unity.

"I did get injured last night. Stuff happens. It's live television. It's wrestling. It's an occupational hazard," Green said. "I ended up in the emergency room and I have a broken orbital bone. It looks amazing all things considered. It feels awful but looks pretty amazing."

The injury is the latest in a string of setbacks for Green, who has been plagued by bad luck over the past year. Despite her recent championship win, this new injury casts uncertainty over her immediate future in the ring.

"I have no idea what that means for me. Usually, you guys have seen me play into every single injury but this feels different, obviously. This feels very different. It feels frustrating. I'm upset. I feel like if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all," Green added. "So, I just need to take a bit more time to process and to heal from, obviously, the head trauma that is going on right now and then we'll see what happens. We're just gonna take it day by day. So, world domination continues. We've just had a minor blip."

Fans have been quick to express their sympathy and support for Green, with many pointing out the unnecessary punishment she took during the match. One fan wrote, "The thing about it is, I'm not just gonna be OK towards this when there's absolutely no reason why she should've took as much punishment as she did in that tag team match, especially taking the pin. Like for real show me another champ that gets treated like that. Somehow, they protected their United States champion more than their world champion."

Another fan suggested a creative solution, referencing The Undertaker's iconic mask: "Ask Undertaker if you can borrow that mask he used when he had his back in the 90s 😭 I hope this isn't to serious speedy recovery 🙌🏽."

Others offered words of encouragement, with one fan noting, "Omg but I know you'd eat up a face guard though 🔥 speedy recovery!! ❤️❤️," and another adding, "Small setback for a major comeback, feel better girl ❤️🫡."

Green's resilience has been a hallmark of her career, and while this injury is a significant blow, her determination remains unshaken. The wrestling community will be watching closely as she navigates this latest challenge, hoping for a speedy recovery.

This isn't the first time injury news has dominated sports headlines this week, and it serves as a reminder of the physical toll athletes endure. For Green, the road back to the ring will require patience and time, but if her past is any indication, she'll return stronger than ever.
