The Dallas Cowboys have had a quiet offseason, but star receiver CeeDee Lamb is making sure the silence doesn't last. With the 2026 season on the horizon, Lamb is publicly urging owner Jerry Jones to lock up his fellow wideout, George Pickens, to a long-term deal.
Pickens is set to play this season on the $27.3 million franchise tag—a prove-it year for the one-time Pro Bowler. But Lamb, who has formed a dynamic duo with Pickens on the field, wants to ensure this partnership lasts beyond 2026.
“I don’t have no ego here, I want to win,” Lamb said, according to Yahoo’s Jori Epstein. “I don’t understand the narrative or X, Y, Z, but it is what it is. I’m sure we can make a way. I know it’s going to be a little crazy, but I know we can make a way for this one.”
Lamb didn't mince words when addressing Jones directly. “Listen, this is my advocation: ‘@ Jerry, can you please figure out a way? Let’s figure it out. I don’t care what needs to happen,'” the multiple All-Pro added. “‘Let’s figure it out and it’s going to get you a couple more championships.'”
The connection between Lamb and Pickens was electric last season, with both receivers stretching defenses and making highlight-reel catches. But keeping both could be a financial puzzle for the Cowboys, especially with other roster priorities looming.
Jerry Jones has already indicated the team needs to set aside money for star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, acquired via trade from the New York Jets last year. That doesn't leave much room for another massive receiver contract, but Lamb believes it's possible.
The 83-year-old owner has a history of making bold moves, and Lamb is betting on that. “I know we can make a way,” he reiterated. The Cowboys' offense has the potential to be one of the league's most explosive, and Lamb sees Pickens as a key piece of that future.
Some around the NFL doubt the Cowboys will keep both Lamb and Pickens past this season. But Lamb is doing his part to change that narrative, using his platform to make a public case. Whether Jones listens remains to be seen, but Lamb's plea adds another layer of intrigue to what could be a pivotal year in Dallas.
