Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark is known for her electric play on the basketball court, but when it comes to the gridiron, her loyalties are a bit more divided. In a recent podcast appearance, the WNBA star admitted she roots for not one, not two, but three different NFL teams.
Clark, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has long been a Kansas City Chiefs fan. That passion runs deep in her family. “I’ve been a Chiefs fan since I was a young girl,” Clark said on the “Post Moves” podcast hosted by Fever teammate Aliyah Boston and WNBA legend Candace Parker. “My brother was a Chiefs fan, my dad was a Chiefs fan. I had cousins in Kansas City that were Chiefs fans. Honestly it was just something all I knew. In our basement, we had a Chiefs vending machine. We had those toy helmets that were Chiefs that you could run around in the yard and I could knock helmets with my brothers.”
Clark’s Chiefs fandom got a high-profile boost when she attended a Kansas City game alongside global pop star Taylor Swift in January 2025. The pair were also spotted together at a Chiefs-Lions matchup last October. “Obviously, I’m a huge Chiefs fan, I’ve been a huge Chiefs fan, and obviously Taylor is a huge Chiefs fan too, so it was fun and obviously worked out where we could go and we had the time,” Clark said.
But the Chiefs aren’t the only team that has captured Clark’s heart. During the podcast, she revealed that she also has a soft spot for the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. That admission adds a new layer to her football fandom, showing she’s not afraid to spread the love across the league.
For now, though, Clark’s focus is on her own health and the Fever’s season. She was ruled out of Wednesday night’s game against the Portland Fire due to back soreness, despite not appearing on the initial injury report. Fever coach Stephanie White downplayed concerns, saying, “She’s healthy. We’re not managing anything. This is just a back issue that we want to make sure we give the time to be ready.” The Fever have not provided an update on her status for Friday’s matchup against the Golden State Valkyries.
Clark’s multi-team NFL allegiance might raise a few eyebrows, but it also shows she’s a true fan of the game. Her willingness to share her fandom has only endeared her more to fans, even as her absence from the lineup sparks debate. Meanwhile, the WNBA continues to face scrutiny over decisions like passing over Clark for East Player of the Week.
Whether she’s cheering for Patrick Mahomes or Justin Fields, Clark’s passion for sports extends beyond the hardwood. And for a rising star who’s already redefining what’s possible in women’s basketball, a little football fandom is just another reason to love her game.
