The Atlanta Dream star, who posted another double-double in Thursday's 83-71 loss to the Indiana Fever, was filmed hoisting a flurry of 3-point attempts before the game. What was meant to be a routine pregame routine quickly became fuel for critics, who tore apart her mechanics.
“What are we doing here? Crossing her arms, eyes on the ball in the air and not the rim, stomping out every shot,” one fan wrote. “This is just bad shooting fundamentals. Has she not hired a shot coach in the last 3 years?”
Another commenter piled on: “I will never understand this. She shoots like 40-45% from around the rim. And they have her practicing 3s? Girl. Do some Mikan drills.”
The criticism didn't stop there. One user compared her form to a beginner: “Angel's mechanics reminds me of a person who's just learning the game of basketball. She has no fluidity to her game... everything just looks difficult. Her heart and effort is her best skill which can take you just as far sometimes though.”

Reese, a two-time All-Star, is averaging 12.8 points and 11.1 rebounds this season, but her shooting percentages have slipped. Her field goal mark has dropped to 41.5% this year, down from 45.8% in 2025, and she's made just 1 of 11 attempts from beyond the arc. On Reese's own podcast, Leslie offered blunt advice: “The biggest advice I have for you is going to be how you shoot your lay-ups. We're going to fix that—it's fixable for you. You're going to get better, and I can help you get better.”
